Ganatantra Diwas 2070 / Republican day Nepal May 29 2014

Nepal was added as the latest edition in the Federal Republican list. For most of the citizens they barely know what a republican day stands for, in-fact most of the people celebrate this day as a national holiday to dose off from their daily work and pressure.

But on real grounds Nepal being declared a Federal Republic has no meaning to its existence. We neither practice the meaning nor do we have the legal rights. In any democratic system, people are considered the optimal power point, but here in Nepal the practice has been opposite.

People have been said to be the focusing point, but they have not been given the power. Their power have been taken away by their so called political leaders. These political leaders in absence of a political culture are practicing nepotism, corruption, manipulation, favoritism, criminalization etc. in the name of politics and public. The real meaning of federalism or republican means giving public the ultimate power to rights and justice of rule of law.

Looking back at present situation it has already been 6 years, since Nepal started its journey towards a new system, but still after six long years and billions of rupees being invested. We have not even been able to get our constitution. The constitution making process proves to be a joke that ridiculously appears as a cartoon or a discussion of illogical ideas with no ending  that has no meaning?

What’s the use when we elect and send these political leaders to make constitution and they are not even capable of making one?

The country where the people or public have no voice and where the political leaders are the superior power there is #nodemocracy . It is just a formality of so called hypocrisy.....
In real democracy people have absolute power or mandate to choose and not being imposed.........

World Heritage site being ignored

During the ending of  every fiscal year places are ripped off just for the sake and in the name of maintenance. In the name of emptying the remaining budget, construction  takes its peak. The metropolitan city and its management are something that is more political than public oriented.

Apart from that in the absence of proper traffic management the world heritage site suffers traffic congestion, and parking problem.

Modi makes it clear Nepal and India relationship will flourish in BJP's regime

India is buzzing with the General Election 2014 and with the trauma of results the Indian Congress Party has no option except to keep silence and to resign from the respected post on moral ground where the practice has been well seen and felt. Yes, The Bharatiya Janta Party(BJP) has nailed the Indian General Election of 2014 held to constitute the 16th Lok Sabha, electing members of the  543 parliamentary constituencies of India. It has been tagged the world’s longest election running in nine phases from 7 April to 12 May 2014.
According to the Election Commission of India, around 814.5 million people were  eligible for voting where the voter population increased by  100 million since the last general election in 2009.

Perhaps the concerning issue now for Nepal is, in view of making the present government the Preponed Nepal election of 2013 now stand with a question mark of what is called an identity crisis. As far as the Nepal Election is concerned,  the then Khil Raj’s Government was pressured and hugely supported by the then Congress Allianced Indian Government to force the election of the Constituent Assembly (CA) prior the Indian General Election 2014. Now the question is what kinds of effects will it have on the diplomatic relationship and foreign affairs. Will it be treated valid and considered diplomatically correct or will  the BJP lead government try to infiltrate the political alliance government to re-election in Nepal?

Or what kind of role will the  BJP government try to play in the ever changing political scenario of Nepal?

Though, the Nepali political leaders are very optimistic and assured about the  situation, but with the ever changing vulnerable political situation things do not look and sound good.

On one hand political gurus are expecting a huge shift in political power sharing mechanisms whereas on the other BJP has been solely supporting the ideology of Hinduism, Speculating that there are chances of king gaining power can be yet another possibility.

Modi has already declared that Indo Nepal friendship will further flourish in BJP’s regime and he has personally announced to visit Nepal first after his official take over in the government. Nepal’s political leaders do not sound reluctant about BJP winning the election, but  like said political leaders breed on diplomacy and foreign affair that is more diplomatic and  flexible. So lets cross our fingers and wait for things to for the best.

Content is not the king SEO is the KING

Add caption

As we all know these days Social media and micro blogging sites are getting popular and with that technology and people's perception is also changing.  The bulky text or content which used to flower the online pages has been replaced by crispy text, info graphics, videos and images. The website that use to be full of content and keywords have been transformed into responsive designs with retina display and one page layout highlighting the theme of engagement, reach and immediate conversion. Focusing the new designs,  conversion is the main Mantra.

It's like people have less time to read, they want information at instance and they want it in graphics than long exaggerating content. By saying this I am not trying to demean the importance of CONTENT but to a level in this world of fast technology people are more grasping the mobile integration and technology in their life business and everywhere.

From smart houses to TVs to smart phones everything is getting smart, even the online website and its content has been tweaked to become more recursive and innovative in every aspect of its navigation and use.

It is a simple formula in the race of survival that if you are not available in mobile then you are nowhere. Your visibility is less and has no meaning if you cannot meet your competition.

Even big companies and brand have made it compulsory to market themselves  adopting new trends like why would news websites like BBC and CNN need social networking sites. In fact reality is in their prime time they pause to say check out faceboook link  and likes in our page.

Perhaps, why would  big brands like Coca Cola or Pepsi need to make a website or join social media, but they have felt the need and presence to be present online because it matter for their brand and marketing name. They want to be present in every aspect of showing their brand value online.

So whether its  Panda or  penguin or humming bird algorithm the concept of todays Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is to make your website more informative, qualitative and  more responsive towards the users. Making a fake website or stuffing keywords, or having too many outbound links or referral link is not going to make any difference. What matters is the value of information that is understandable and for that it has no criteria. The trend and presentation might change exploring  the trend of technology and people’s mindset, but the core value will remain the same.
-Simplicity
- Value of information
-User navigation
-Accessibility
-Presentation

It's not about the level or quantity of CONTENT but its about the value and how people are reacting to the presentation. Google algorithm has been changing it's evaluating mechanism, making drastic changes from having a limitation of keywords to proportion of graphic used for outbound links to the use of geo tags to cross linking of social media etc. It has been live examples of how Google is trying to adjust and adapt. Similarly, with all these  changes, what we must understand is with any content or any portal the main thing that matters is originality and presentation.

With globalization and different algorithm, your website is on the verge of constantly being monitored and evaluated by the Google crawlers that checks and updates the cache memory. These memories are stored as tiny bits of data that Google keeps checking and indexing every now and then. The google indexing is not just a scanning process, but it also uses it to cross verify and evaluate the information.

If the Google finds more difference in its crawling caches and indexed files than it directs the website link to various google webmasters as errors. if the errors are not rectified then  it directs the web-links to  Google sandbox that literally shows no visibility and reference no matter how popular your website or blog is.

So one must be very careful about the layout of  information and about changing patterns of design that we all try to do. Google evaluates a website not by its graphical  assortment it evaluates a website by its technical easiness of user navigation, user choices and clicks and genuine traffic and its sources.

Just by giving good design and qualitative content it's not enough, you need to optimize your website according to certain standard with a definite strategy and keywords. Every page needs to be targeted by demographics and optimized.

Nepal Investment Bank one of the most insensitive and very very sad services

I had my first bank account opened in  Investment Bank Pvt, LTD in early 2000. I think it was my first bank account but I still recall the bad services and amount of money that I paid in return  and lack of customer care that was there. Specially in the Putalisadak the customer was seriously bad if you ask them what to do they would shout back gone are those days (10 years back), I even fought with one of the customer care officer when she behaved and complained it to the manager once. Though things have changed and its was ages back but that reputation still precedes me in the fade memories, so I never recommend NIBL to any of my clients and offices.

In fact you would be surprised that I have paid more money to the bank than the bank has paid interest to me. It is so true due to the low balance charges, I have paid the bank many times in the past for having a low balance. Thank god the central bank abolished the system and now people are saved but still every year they do have their ways of taking money from the public in the name of service where they provide limitation in the name of customer care and long lines.

I think NIBL still has miles to go where they have to improve at individual level where they have less focus but one thing that they need to understand you never know who that client is and how that client might be doing marketing on their behalf.

Every year they Charge VISA Card
1. VISA card year 400 New
2. VISA renewal Nrs 250

Now if you look at their VISA card, it is  one of the worst. Every time I issue a new one it breaks from the same place. The quality of the VISA card is so thin  and sad that it is very very weak and sad quality. I think they purposely keep the quality low so that they would be able to issue more cards.

It is one of the lowest grade VISA cards, I do not why they have ranked this bank one of the top most banks in Nepal. Even at ground level the normal clients and customers have to wait for long ques for general services.

With all the dissatisfaction and pain I finally decided to close the account so I went and inquired about the process, I seriously wanted to give away my account. I was asked to fill a closing  requisition form and was informed that for closing an account  they would charge me NRS 500. I was like what the F@@@@@@

Then another girl from the bank gave me a smart solution why don't you opt for the 1 rupee account where changing the account had a nominal cost of Nrs 300 and i would just have to maintain the 1 rupee in the account so i change my account type and I am happy.

Talk of Ktown: I am a tax payer and I need my security

Kathmandu city is stunned with Akshya Kumar. The so called press is following him everywhere, making him a hero in the front page of newspapers to social media’s Newsfeed, he is everywhere. Going through the pictures, I noticed something that really surprised me. In one of the pictures he is walking around with plenty of police personnel as security.    What the hell?

In this country, I am a legal public tax payer and pay my taxes on time with 5 digit figures every year and I don’t get any security and bloody a foreigner who is not even a taxpayer gets dozen of security personnel.

What kind of policy is this?

If I go to a police station and launch a complain then they will not even register it, they will first ask to investigate and only after that looking at the severity they will decide whether to launch FIR or not. Whereas in normal practice once a person goes to a police station, it is the first duty of the police personnel to launch and register the complain but in Nepal that’s not the case. I think this is the reason why Nepal police has a high crime resolving rate because they fail to register or address most of the cases that comes to them either they suppress it or ignore it.

You need status and authority, even for registering a case. If it’s a so call hi-fi VIP then it will be done by instance, but for the local normal public they would have to WAIT…………………
We need to change this in the system. It has to change, police is there for the public not to discriminate, we have to make people understand that tax payers  need the respect that they deserve and the top on the list are the civil servant who ignore and neglect the tax payers. They have to know this, that taxpayers are their high priority  and they have to be  abide by the law.

Just think how sad this is

FNJ is back with its political swing for its election

Once again the social media are in full swing use with the promotional advertisements of election for the candidacy of the executive committee of the Federation of Nepalese Journalist (FNJ). Different social networking sites are bombarded with election materials and information about the affiliation of political parties for the individual candidacy promotional purpose.

The FNJ is the mother organization  of all the journalists all over Nepal but due to its political influences and bad reputation, the FNJ has been labeled a political influenced organization.

Time and again the election of FNJ and its candidates have been questioned with the  association of various political organizations, but with the growing trade unions and political parties playing a major role in the economy, Nepal journalism has been controversially influenced at its core level.

So labelling Nepal's Journalism accuracy on the basis of political influence, Nepal has no standing grounds.

On one hand the direct involvement of the memebrs of FNJ in political organization directly questions the relevancy of the check and counter mechanism in and against the political organization where as on the other, how can a political influenced organization be a federation of all journalists that has no morale and ethics.

Social Media Buzz and dumb reality: social media myths

These days there is a buzz of social media. From the top notch brands to the local in house shop everybody is going global with opening their social media pages, blogs and experimenting and spending their time, money and resources on heft program without knowing their purpose and interest. It's like the trend of the 21st century that has ignited the fire and passion of social media fashion.
One thing that really amazes me are the so called big names in the game. These so called digital strategist or gurus have been harvesting the social media with millions of dollars in the name of so called social media resources selling and opining their expertise in increasing of the reach, interaction and conversion.

Now, I have few questions about such so called self proclaimed social media strategists and gurus who run hundreds of classes online or sell materials online in the name of running 100% successful program. What guarantee do they give nothing? Then what do they sell?
They sell dreams and hopes that are more lucrative than anything and target their clients.
I am surprised how dumb can we be. The internet is a powerful tool just do a research and you will have everything than following some American or Australian  running a so called marketing program that cost hundred of Dollars. They are not the official representative of Google or Facebook or Twitter or Youtube or Linkedin. You can easily do a research about some topic in google or any other search engine and get desired results to get their answers.

Like what are ways of interacting with people on facebook or how to tighten your privacy or how to make your profile more appealing in social media.
For instance Facebook runs its own marketing page where it updates its users about its recent developments and security issue. Similarly, other social media send updates via emails and newsletters about their new changes and updates, then why are people so dumb in spending hundred of USD for something that is already there.

I have seen big corporate following big names in the game just for the sake of it. It's just common sense. You need to be yourself and need to be honest. To some extent, this new trend of social media craze is giving more priority towards SPAMMING. People specially corporate are going viral with making videos, blogs and newsletters and sharing it uselessly and unwantedly. On one hand, you are wasting your  time, money and resources where as on the other hand, you are wasting others time doing spamming. The thing is with your social media you are already discoverable on the different social media channels with the variables of factors of Search Engine Optimization(SEO) to info-graphics if you have quality content then you just to tweak it and you are visible.
One thing that I can predict and say is social media has driven the 21st  century to the crazy of doing everything differently where the consequences are very open, but using the logic, we fail to realize and adapt the alteration of its impact in both our society and human behavior.

Social media Myths
1. Big number of likes make you or your company famous and popular
2. Being present in all social media is a symbol of social status
3. Following big names help you increase your popularity
4. There is no hard and fast rule on Social media, it depends upon the company and its set of experiment that it tries
5. Using and following technique has no result than wasting your time, value and money
Social Media rules 1. Be honest
2. Have limited number, but quality people as your audience
3. Good information is more useful than bulk of rubbish information
4. Communication is important, but useless and unwanted communication in the name of SPAMMING is wrong
5. Creating fake information is more harmful than anything
6. Always be attentive about your audience
7. Core values of society Human values to be precise helps you to connect
The reality is social media is just a platform of interaction that can facilitate in flowing the information. One thing we all should understand is following other is good but following other blinding is completely wrong. It's part of storytelling where you can be a leader or a follower or an addict  the choice is yours, but trying to someone that you are not can create problems in the long run which needs to be understood.

Manakamana Temple in need of support

How does it sound when you go to a temple and you hear people asking money?
It is ridiculous the way people were asking for money at the Temple of Manakamana. I think in Nepal Manakama is one of the expensive temples that has a  nominal cost of Nrs 2000( USD 25)  and above for its  per person cost.

Total Cost Overhead Segregation
___________________________
Transportation:       300
Food:                    500
Cable car:              575
Other expenses:     625
____________________
Total                    2000

The most surprising fact is being one of the most popular temples of Nepal, it  has no money for its repair. If you look at the turnover of the temple then you would be amazed how many people are earning  in the name of goddess Manakamana and they contribute nothing.

The Manakamana Cable Car receives around 10,000 a day on Saturdays, the cable car runs round the clock from morning 7 am to evening 7 pm without stopping.

So my question is with such income generation, how could the temple be NIL with no revenue that the management committee was asking  for money with the public.

The thing that intrigued me was people who contributed  money their names were being voiced out in public as if they did something great but my question is how can this happen in a temple. Isn't it a form of discrimination? It is clearly said in Dharma that donation in the name of publicity has no value and importance then people were doing this?

Most surprisingly Manakamanan Temple is one of the most popular temples that has a huge turnover, I mean to say from individual donations to income generation. There are a lot of people who are generating income in the name of the temple  and still the Temple has no money for renovation was a point of amazement.

Finance prospective

If you look at the scenario the  Manakamana Cable Car Company has over 3000 visitors on average daily.
The people who sell the goods  earn accordingly. Perhaps one cannot  imagine the money collected from the donation boxes that are placed at the temples periphery. Similarly the money and offering that people make towards the goddess is yet another important fraction of the temple is a  hard source of income. Now my question  where does all this money goes. The Manakamana Cable car Company must be paying a hefty tax money to the government, WHAT HAPPENS TO THAT MONEY?
Likewise, the money collected from the offerings directly goes to the pockets of the priests isn't there any management committee to manage this?

Lastly the remaining amount of the donation boxes are left for the temple management, which also has more management and transparency  issues. I guess the goddess of wishes has many wishes of her own where people are branding and en-cashing her name but when it comes to her  management then they look up to the public for the solution.

Reckless Driving a sad, but bitter truth in Nepal : REALITY BITES!!

Killing people in the name of reckless driving is wrong. Driving recklessly in the name of age and Adrenaline is also wrong. Nepal government failing to address the issue of responsible driving in its driving curriculum is also wrong. So where are we lacking?  Every day or the other we hear about people getting killed or we face people driving recklessly. Things are getting worst and I think it's happening because the government is not paying attention to the root cause of the problem that is nobody cares about being responsible while driving all they know is once the accelerator is on, it's ON. Once you get into your vehicle, then you are the king of the road and you will drive as per your wish which is completely wrong.

My question is reckless driving is not just a mistake, it's a criminal offense as it might be a small mistake for you, but for someone who faces the consequence due to your negligence, he or she might have to pay a big price.

If you look at the trend, then, especially in abroad first they ask you to get responsible and learn the theoretical aspect of how to drive responsibly only after that they issue the learner's permit. If you compare the situation, then it's just opposite here in Nepal. Here you just have to appear for two  examinations. One theoretical and the other practical where if you can, you can also manage to fluke the theoretical examination just by your IQ.

Getting back to the topic the latest tragic incident of Manju Mahat that occurred at Golkopaka was an incident where she lost her life. Whoever's mistake was it, but a person lost her life. It was reported that she was squashed in between two public vehicles that was driving down. She died, but her death has raised serious questions regarding issues of responsible driving in Nepal.

Reality is that particular section of the road is always monitored by Nepal Traffic police personnels, so in the presence of such resources  how did that accident occurred which can be a serious issue of discussion. If such accidents are happening in such places, then its high time, we seriously have to look into our driving manual and traffic system as it truly needs some upgrading and research.

Right to information in Nepal

The law of Right to information in Nepal came into action after 2007. The Draft and it’s legal parameters can be obtained at http://www.moic.gov.np/acts-regulations/right-to-information-act.pdf  though the law defines its democratic rights for any citizen  to inquire about any desired informant related to a public body , but the Right to Information Act, 2064 (2007) is still in its beginning stage where it needs to be explored and researched. Still today people do not have any idea about the law. Not just for city areas, but in the rural village areas where the law can be an effective tool for controlling corruption and irregularities  has just been hidden lacking publicity and popularity. What are we lack and why  this law shadowing …………….

If we look at its uses and provision this law can be used as an effective means to empower the people in every aspect of bringing transparency in reducing corruption in Nepal. As ultimately corruption happens in-front of the public in connection with resources that are either mismanaged or are hidden from the public. The Right to Information Act, 2064 (2007) gives the public full right to inquire about the desired information. This way, the public is fully aware and in control of the spending that is happening so they can fully verify the progress and development.  It is not just a sense of using the rights, but it’s about having questions and standing for your rights.

As we all waste our time criticizing and talking about what is not happening around, but is it not our responsibility to question what is happening ? Why are we silent of all the happenings.
It is our country and our politician whom we have selected and send them heir and if they fail to perform then it is our responsibility to aware them that we are watching them if  we cannot then there is no purpose of criticizing or putting allegation on others.

T20 world cup a Dream for Nepal

We just saw the grand performance of the Nepali cricket team in the Bangladesh world T20 cup. The Nepali team coming up from the past few years of struggle is not a joke, but still, having said that I expect more from the Nepali national team. I have been arguing about this with many people about how and why we should not limit this performance or have our say in expecting more from them.
People have been arguing me about
1. There is not facilities
2. The government is not so flexible about their training
3. They have no resources
Nepali Cricket Team
My argument is from past 5 years we have been dreaming about the world cricket cup we lost it to Bangladesh and they went and played 5 consecutive world cup matches and we remain the same, Was there a progress?
I would yes, but it was not visible, I saw that progress only this year when our country's flag was flying on the ground of chitlong, Bangladesh. People have been complaining about the resources available, but my argument is in an underdeveloped country to facilitate the national team with the international coach itself is a trophy  and what are we complaining about. If you look at the history of any country's sport, then you would probably see the hard work, drive and motivation by their own passion. Here the government, despite its resource have been trying. You cannot compare the Indian cricket team and its facilities here in Nepal and moreover,  it took them more the 50 years to establish themselves and here we talk about not even a decade.
Apart from that if you look at the recognition and awards that they have received then its quite phenomenal like the government has already given or in process of awarding them with  more than 15 lakh (1.5 million) in cash, they have a fixed job from armed police force. Similarly, private donation and awards are being given to them at different intervals of time and still they complain they lack resources.
What kind of motivation are they looking for, do they want the government to play with them or what?
My argument is when it comes to awards and promotional advertisement they come forward and grab all and when it comes to performance and failures they blame it to the  government and lack of resources, what a joke?
Nepal and Nepali cricket has a long way to go in its cricket journey, but it's high time that the Nepali team needs to understand the priorities of what and how we will perform than just complain  about the past.
We all are in support of the team and leadership, but one thing they should be clear about is, the sport is all about pure passion and hard work if you cannot dedicate yourself from mind, body and soul then you do not have the right to wear the national  flag and be in the National team.

why suffer and make the public pay the Price: Price Hike in Petrol

Yesterday it was the world consumer day and we heard the news that the prices of petroleum products went up. What an irony and what recognition?

The Nepal Oil Corporation has announced an increase of Rs. 10 in petrol, diesel by Rs. 6 and kerosene by Rs. 6 per liter. The previous selling prices were Rs.130 for petrol, Rs. 103 for diesel and Rs.103 for kerosene.

At previous rate, the NOC was making a profit of Rs. 2.82 from petrol and Rs. 5.67 from kerosene. But was suffering a loss of Rs. 10.30 in diesel.

I sincerely think our government or leadership should think about privatization in this sector, one thing we all need to understand is when you cannot manage; you should accept and call the experts who can or let the market decide. Why suffer and make the public pay the Price?

The main reason of the Losses in the NOC is caused due to lack of transparency in the use of petroleum products by the government authorities  and ministers as there are no records and system for regulating and controlling.

I think this is just a publicity stunt, as after the rise, there will be a big chaos and the NOC, with its full consent will decrease the price by 50% and things will go aside. Most importantly the student political parties will have an issue to bargain and there will be some action for them. It's all political, I must say.............

How can a commodity like petrol that you resell go in loss? I guess it's happening due to mismanagement or what if I say it's happening due to huge government misappropriation done by their staffs and ministers

Nepal Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) malfunctioning questions user Rights

NTC Error message
In recent years, we have evolved from an autocratic regime to a more federal democratic environment where we have rights of everything. Today there are human rights, privacy rights, consumer rights etc.  to protect in everything we do and it has adapted in our lifestyle and technology that we use and live with.
Recently I encountered something that really surprised me, it’s a small error, but for a national public company like Nepal Telecommunication Corporation(NTC)  that pays billions in taxes to the government displaying a definite wrong message  was a question of curiosity as well as a stand to question. My issue was to question what are my rights in context of using the service and facilities related to the company and its product.
Technical details: When you press *400# to display your current balance and if you try to make a call the software displays a message, “Sorry you have no right to call.”
How convenient or right is that when you are the rightful owner of the number and the mobile set and your legal status is being questioned.
A small thought, but I think it’s a major issue in regards to the question that comes up when we receive advertisements from NTC about events or promotional campaigns do we have the privacy rights to say no.
I may or may not be right, but what concerns me is the level of recognition of user's rights and   that these organization practices in retrospect of showcasing their responsibilities towards clients and their services.

DO I HAVE ANY RIGHTS ....................

weed day celebrated in Nepal

shivaratri 2014

No matter with what security or number of police personnel deployed, it makes no sense for one day in the year when hashish or weed goes legal in Nepal. At the official level government of Nepal may not accept this, but on real ground weed goes legal especially at pashupatinath area with fumes gauging the surroundings in making the youth attract in millions. What young / old or cast /creed everybody enjoys the Shivaratri with a different mindset. Traditional and culturally Shivaratri is the only festival that has a certain psychological aspect of taking up marijuana or weed as a sacred blessing from the god.  This trend has not only been exploited, but to some extent exaggerated by drug abusers and teenagers in using illegal substances in the name of culture and tradition.

Is this acceptable is my question?

Shocking truth, but it is real that from the past few years the government has been trying to control the uses of the illegal drugs like marijuana; hashish etc. During Shivaratri but culturally it has given way to specific areas and locations.  On Shivaratri the Weed/marijuana is consumed as a blessing of lord shiva as it is considered one of the very prized substances devoted to lord shiva where at times the teenagers and youngster without knowing the cause.

It’s fun, but without knowing the pros and cons you can land yourself in unwanted situation which needs to be explained.

With the growing trend of teenagers flocking to pashupatinath temple certainly hints the wrong use and possibility of vulnerability.

Yes, it’s our culture, but make it visible and having the clarity of not misusing is also our right and responsibility.

It was estimated that around 10 million people visited the pashupati Nath temple this year.

Failed Leaders and their vision: subash nembang an example

Now I know why Nepal is listed in the group of least developed country. It is very ironical and very clear that we lack leadership and proper vision but how dumb can we be that we would nominate the same failed sorry ash who could not deliver his  goals during the last constituent Assembly and now again he is back in the same position.

Yes, I am talking about Mr Subash Nembang who was elected as the new  house of speaker  unanimously. how wise is it to give him such an important role that he could not deal with during his last tenure. In-fact I could not stop myself from laughing when I heard that Mr  Nemabang was the only candidate for the post. how courageous for him to stand again without the guilt that he didn't deliver last time so he was up for the nomination this time as well. I think this is the example of the worst political culture that we have and that is instigating Nepal's politics. I think with such lack of consen and guilt such people are no less than  burden for their position and responsibilities.
Nembang was highly criticized for not being able to perform during the last CA when he failed to call the last meeting prior the Baburam led government dissolved the CA.

Nepal's Politics desperately needs new face and new vision the orthodox are certainly containing the energy and drive of the nation towards poverty and corruption.

we need leaders who can take stand and make difference not leaders who can make politics more happening by having their own preferences and choices

Koirala a failed leader

With the appointment of Sushil Koirala as the 37th Prime Minister of Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, the country seems to be back in track of  new constitution making process. Famously idealized for his youth image and youth leadership, this 75 years old man depicts the real situation of Nepal's politics and its currently situation of orthodox mentality.

The November 19, 2013 election  was a breaking point for Nepal's political deadlock situation but still due to lack of political understanding and political culture, the country failed to get any result in regard to its political status and other essential decision. The elected CA members lacked to formed a proper leadership and visions in regards to management and operation for the last 3 months. Now after 3 months there seems to be some solution coming upfront but with lack of political manipulation and politics games running around for power and chair, it is still hard to expect  that there will be a secured government that will facilitate the CA to promulgate a new constitution.
The Communist Party of Nepal (United Marxist Leninist) which supported koirala to win the position of PM at CA has already expressed its dissatisfaction with Koirala reasoning it of failing to address the agreement of home minister portfolio to its party. Similarly, the political understanding seems to be lacking  political support in context of power sharing and portfolio management, which is expressed openly by leaders of the political parties at different media.

Koirala is the sixth head of government since the country became a republic in 2008, following a peace deal with Maoist rebels in 2006.

The Nepali Congress president, scored  405 of 553 votes of MPs', moving ahead securing his position as the next Prime minister of Nepal. During the November 19, 2013 election he was elected from Banke and Chitwan constituencies for the Constituent Assembly (CA).

I think sushil koirala is just an example of weak political culture of nepal that highlights the hypocrisy and orthodox mentality that rules Nepal politics.  It is hard to say if the country will get a new constitution within next five years but I can surely say it will get more ministers and sub ministers to manage different portfolios.

Money taken as Tourists fee should be used to increase benefits for tourist

The Nepal Government has doubled the tourism service fee for foreigners exiting Nepal via Tribhuvan International Airport enacting from March 1, 2014. The decision to revise the fee was taken by the executive committee of NTB. It was later approved by the Ministry of Finance.

The statement specifically highlights that the income generated from the fee will be used by #Nepal_Tourism_Board to promote Nepal in the international arena and for development of domestic tourism.

I think the money collected from the tourists should be invested in the airport and other facilities rather than the personal holiday trip of the NTB staff. When they go abroad we all know how the promotion takes place. One thing we all have to understand that Nepal lacks marketing tools for Nepal’s promotion. We have embassies in most parts of the world why aren’t we using that network. Working as a tourism journalist I have personally participated in many programs conducted by such embassies that save money and time and most importantly it helps the embassy to increase their credibility at a national level.

Apart from that we lack promotional quality materials like videos and photos which need to be worked on.

The NTB should hire few intellectual marketing consultants who can work on creating a buzz campaign rather than spending millions and billions of rupees in the so called foreign trip in the name of promotional expenses.
I am sorry to say this but taking Nrs 1000 from one tourist might not matter but when it comes to a year’s round figure that money amounts to 6 or 7 digit in a year and you are planning to use it for promotional activities what a joke....
The money taken from the tourists should be returned to them in the name of service, my question is why isn’t NTB ready to finance thamel as a Vehicle Regulated Zone or help Basantapur give better services. Why is it just ready to go for promotional activities aboard only?

Why is my question? Its high time when the leadership and the Nepal Government start thinking about the long terms solution for Nepal’s tourism and its pros and cons rather than wasting time and money in the name of promotional activities.

Nepal is getting popular as tourism destination whereas talking about the cost its increasing and when we talk about services and quality then its decreasing. Then what are the tourists getting out of it #Baba_jee_ka_Thullu
Use that money to improve the #Tribhuvan_International_Airport at least the tourists would get some benefit out of it ...............

last time I was there at the International Arrival section I was ashamed of the message displayed at the corridor and services available there. Leadership needs to check this

I know and understand the importance of foreign promotion but at this stage our tourism is just growing. It’s our choice to whether make the base strong or whether we want to make it more vulnerable and expensive.

Sworn for corruption and irregularities

With the appointment of Constituent Members Major political parties are planning to amend the existing Constituent Assembly regulation aiming at promulgating a new constitution within one year.

But my question is?
Is it possible or are they joking just like last time?

The last 2008 to 2012 Constituent Assembly was dissolved by the then PM Dr baburam Bhattrai in with the obstruction of the #Constitution_making_process. He dissolved the CA in view of lack of politically understanding and in view of the bad image of CA.

To understand the relativity of the problem, first we need to understand our position. I mean to say where the country stands. Right now we are in a transitional phase of corruption, nepotism, power play, political manipulation. The country is ruled by few buffed powerful politicians who have embraced few hooligans and they are governing their rule either by power or by money.  The #political_culture_of_Nepal lacks serious dedicated leadership and vision that can upload the country towards development and change. Political leaders in Nepal are obsessed with corruption, nepotism, favoritism, power politics and racialism where they are doing political in the name of their self-interest.

The real problem of the last Constituent Assembly that pushed it to dissolve its identity are given below:
1. Number of state
2. Criteria of federalist approach

These two were the major issues which hindered the political culture of Nepal.
Can these issues be solved is a million dollar question?

The solution is well prescribed in the interim constitution 2063 that governs the current legal status but by passing the solution the then PM Baburam Bhattrai dissolved the CA in view of showing his lack of leadership.

It has been clearly mentioned in the Interim constitution 2063 that if there is a case of lack of understanding or if there is a situation of lack of interest from related stakeholders the CA can opt for Public memorandum which can be adopted upon anytime upon the agreement of CA members.

I think we do not need a solution but we need to find the problem as Nepal searches new grounds of change and leadership but the orthodox political culture and leadership fails to quit and prolong to create political chaos and anarchy.

Modern day slavery in Nepal

Nepal has successfully established itself as the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal but when it comes to practice, Nepal still lack modern values of Humanity.  Reality is still today in remote villages there are people and tradition that practices what is said to be beyond laws and social norms. The terms #Kamlari or #Kamaiya might sound different to you but for people living in the Western and Southern part it’s a nightmare of hard labor and endless beating especially in the Tharu community and Dalits.

Let me first explain what these terms mean #kamaiyas mean people bonded laborers who agree to work upon a certain amount of money for a certain time frame.

Kamlari is yet another form of #modern_Day_slavery where young girls and women are sold by their parents into indentured servitude under contract for periods of one year with richer, higher-caste buyers, generally from outside their villages.

With the end of December the community of Tharu rise up to celebrates the Maghi festival, marking the end of winter, with this celebration, the destitute Tharu families whose financial condition are not good sign into contracts with people who want laborers. Unfortunately most of these laborer are below 18 and most of them go through hard labor where as others whose luck run out are picked up by agents who sell them off for #flesh trade .

These laborers are left behind with no right and no voice where they wounds inflict blood stains of being verbally abused to hard labor to sexual harassment and exploitation.

These days a-lot of Kamaiyas and Kamlaris have gained power both politically and socially but they fail to address these real problems where still today women, men and girls are sold and they  go through this burning hell. I think only few of the handful people have got the benefit of the #Kamlari_Movement and have had the opportunity to woek  in INGOs and NGOs due to their disadvantage where for the rest the ground reality is pain hard work, labor and exploitation.

Nepal lacks small changes but how, where and when are the things that we fail to realize.

Social Media and its hard reality

You might be amazed how people are getting more addicted towards using social media and integrating their personnel life. Reality is people are using it for updating every little thing that is happening in their life. From facebook to twitter to linkedin to instagram to pin interest, people are simply getting use to the ways of social media on their lives. So don’t be amazed when you get to hear people got divorce over an issue online or someone got fired over a simple personal update over a company. Yes it has happened and it’s happening all over the world. People are so use to social media that they often express, show their personal feeling and are dam loyal about updating their true feelings and sentiments.  On one hand they are being vulnerable whereas on the other they cannot help it as they as cluster phobic to hiding their feelings.

This has certainly made social media a crisis situation where a normal person should know its limitation and use.

To make it more personal and effective one should follow these points
1.       Stop using professional social media during your professional time
2.       Start using privacy setting
3.       Control your  web visibility and control you vulnerability
4.       Stay safe by optimizing your personal information

Social media can certainly help but it can also invite or put you in an awkward situation which needs to be understood .

National Unity Day forgotten

Today it's "Prithivi Narayan Shah birthday" which was previously celebrated a as National Unity Day but after the recent democratic movement this day has been removed from its glory and fame.
For Nepalese and Nepal, King Prithivi Narayana Shaha is not just a name, he is the king of kings who aspired Nepal and made the unification process possible. It was his glories vision and idea to see Nepal as unified and strong. Prior to that Nepal had no identity, it was scattered in many states and countries.

It was his idea and vision that today we have a country that has been balancing its identity among great giants like India and china . If his leadership and vision were futile and weak we would not have this nation.

He was born  246 years ago in 1768AD in Gorkha as a King who saw the pain of being small and scattered. so through out his life he lived his dream of a unified Nepal and his sons and family member fulfilled his dream.  Today when Nepal stands as a Nation its his contribution and his dream that we are proud of. We cannot deny his contribution.

The 2063/64 Constitution had scrapped this day as being of any relevance highlighting its weak mentality of weak #political_culture_of_Nepal. Act of disgrace was not stopped, in-fact his status all over Nepal were destroyed  saying he belonged to the group of dictatorship and ruling regime.

I think it is unfair for him(PNS) when our country recognizes so many martyrs who lost their lives  during the struggle to reinstating Democratic values but we fails to recognize that one voice that lead the movement of standing and making a Nation. His  leadership might be objected to  questions but his vision cannot and in no terms is questionable. If the #political_leaders_of_Nepal think that way then they are racist and they are discriminating. They played a dirty political game of  power politics just to impress few so called revolutionary forces which is completely WRONG . I stand by the words that I have written.

I strongly believe that PNS birthday is a day to remember him for his contribution and why we have Nepal. You rule our hearts and till the day Nepal will be there ur contribution will live on.....
His visions and legacy can be compared to nobody, no politician or Nepali can deny his contribution...
Salute to you Great king Prithivi

Nepal's politics in chaos after the Constituent Assembly 2070

#Political_culture_of_Nepal has gone insane, from the recent General Election of the Constituent Assembly 2070 till here things don't look to be normal, in fact the situation has worsened with in. People voted to get their elected member thinking they would do good for the country but now things are looking exactly the opposite. After election in most of the big political parties the problem of  power segregation and manipulation have evolved as a big question. Groupism and  power politics have infiltrated to nominate their  candidates for the Constituent Assembly. Serious dissatisfaction have been shown by party leaders and cadets in nomination of candidates for the Constituent Assembly. The UCPN cadets were seen torching their office furniture where as the NRPP were seen on the verge of dividing the party. Similarly in the Nepali congress as well dissatisfaction were heard from leaders for the nomination process.

The political leader are displaying a weak #political_culture that recognizes power and politics as the foremost tool. With this  manipulation and tussle the country is further moving towards path of uncertainty and chaos. With limited hopes the country seems to stall itself in the path of deadlock situation where the Constitution seems  to be a  big hurdle. Until and unless the political parties and leader adapt the #concept_of_nation_first, Nepal future seems doomed in corruption, power play, nepotism and criminal politics.

Politics for them is a like a business where they invest a certain amount of money for publicity during election and now when its over they are fighting like crazy to get to power to get back their money with interest.
What can we expect from political leaders who just want  position and power ........
