KP Sharma Oli New Shoe Controversy

Nepal being one of the least developed country, it's political leaders find themselves involved in various action that are more subjected to moral and ethic questioning. These issues may not look important from the point of view from an external eye but for internal eye they are very relevant.

While attending the World Economic Leaders meeting, the KP Sharma Oli has been criticized for wearing a Louis Vuitton Shoe.

Man what the Pumpking he is the prime minister of Nepal, what is he suppose to wear a GoldStar shoe. Who knows, he might have got that shoes as a gift or he might have bought it in a sale. There are number of possibility that might have occured.

Nepalese are so dam sarcastic, they are not talking about the business class air flight that he might have taken which should be 5 or 6 times more than normal economical flight and they are talking about the shoes that he is wearing. One shoes is affordable for a prime minister. I question the GK of the person who had a question about that.

Sometime I feel so sad of all these foolish trolls and memes that goes around, one lakh shoes is within his reach people.

President of Nepal in yet another controversy

After the 180 Million car controversy, it seems president of Nepal Bidhya Devi Bhandari cannot keep herself away from  controversy. She is once again dragged into another controversy which seems very loud where she has no connection and yet she is being made the main culprit.

The new controversy is about  a helicopter which is 1 Arba 50 crores   that is like 8 times more than the 180 million car.

The Nepal government clearly gave the explanation of 180 million car to be a fleet of cars. In view of this the Nepal Army sanction the helicopter from the ministers  and has forwarded the purchase. It has been mentioned that the helicopter will be used only by the president. spending so much of money for one person is a question of efficiency and effectiveness.

Moreover, there can be issues of organized corruption of commission where Nepal Army due to its legal entity is kept away from  CIAA jurisdiction.

A country which  is believed to be a least developed country and has major issues of education, health, food, many other infrastructure, has a purchase list of billion for so called one person. How smart is that?

The political culture of Nepal has promulgated political leaders who aspires to buy new cars and helicopter at the price of people hard pay tax.

I kind of wonder if these crazy ideas of buying billion rupees cars and helicopter are ideas of a sane person.

What a joke ?

180 million car Controversy

Out of the latest update from the office of  President of Nepal, once again Bidhya Devi Bhandari is in controversy for the vehicle procurement. The Nepal Government  recently submitted the need of 180 Million for the acquring the bullet proof vehicle for the president. As soon as the news were out the social media was on fire. The whole need of expense for the transportation  was criticized from all.

The reality 1. Bidhya Devi Bhandari didn't apply for the money, the Nepal Government did
2. Nobody looked into the details of how many cars were being purchased but that doesn't justify buying expensive car in any way

Out of all the facts, once again Bidhya Devi Bhandari was dragged into the controversy due to the Nepal government competence.

My argument
1. why do we need such a budget. We are a least developing country if there is a crisis of armed vehicle why should our government buy the vehicle at the cost of tax payers money. High profile dignitaries who have the need will bring their own vehicle
2. Why is Nepal Government more interested in buying sorts of luxury item. For public they have impose 280% vehicle tax as considering Car vehicle in luxury and they are buy such big expensive cars.
3. With that money new schools and education infrastructure can be set up why the Nepal government is not interested in such activities.

Keshab Sthapit Sacked

With the increasing misbehaviors and no performance of the Keshab Sthapit the Physical Infrastructure and Development  has been sacked by chief Minister Dormani Poudel. After the consultation of CM Poudel with  Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Centre of Tribhuvan University, the decision was taken in action.
Sthapit has been sacked under Article 169 (2) (b) of the Constitution.

It was reported that minister, Sthapit misbehaved with the CM and used foul language. A large chunk of the provincial budget has been allocated to Sthapit’s ministry, but he has not been sincerely mobilising it. Sthapit’s ministry has received Rs17 billion budget for this fiscal.

The political culture of Nepal sincerely has no standard in terms of having a effective qualification for being a minister. Any one from the road can be picked and made a minister in view of how one can pitch.

The country is facing this problem not just from the one side but from all sides where for public service only the best of the best qualify but when it comes to the visionary leaders there is none criteria. Its really disheartening to such a practice where leadership is not considered or idealized in a protagonist way.

People like Sthapit may be vocal in their manifesto of the election but when it comes to the real action they lack consistency.

Rabi Lamichhane Controversy

Rabi lamichhane has been a huge media figure in the Nepali TV industry and has created a ripple in the over all journalism industry with this presentation and morale values. He is indeed a nationalist and has done some fabulous job that many of us have seen and felt.

He was issued the non-tourists visa for Nepal certifying relation with Harishchandra Lamichhane from Bhaktapur to be his brother.

Relationship Visa
Kins  of Nepalese citizen can apply for Relation Visa by producing following documents.

  • Relationship Certificate issued by local bodies establishing relationship with Nepali kin (Original and photocopy)
  • Citizenship certificate of kin (Original and photocopy).
  • Concerned kin should not be foreign passport holder and should be present in person at DOI for the verification formalities. He/she should be related to applicant by blood.
  • Passport and latest visa (photocopy).
  • Online Form  (Relation Visa) (Link to Online Visa  application
  • Relation visa holders are not permitted to work without acquiring 'Work Permit' from Department of Labour. Work Permit procedure, however starts from Department of Immigration. Contact the Department of Immigration, Non Tourist  Visa Section for detail information.

Visa Fee : 5 USD/per month

Single Re-entry facility :  20 USD extra in addition to monthly Visa Fee

Multiple Re-entry facility : 60 USD extra in addition to monthly Visa Fee

Even the journalist ethics code in  press council doesn't say anything about the legality of the journalist.

The recent controversy that he has been dragged in is very confusing about what is the problem all about.
1. Is he doing something illegal ?
2. has he harmed anyone ?
3. Has he created a social mess or anything to deteriorated the cultural harmony?

Facts about Rabi

1. He was an American citizen when he entered Nepal
2.  He was working in Nepal with a non tourist visa with relationship Visa

Out of all this chaos, what I can see is the law has been confused in terms of its practice and interpretation. Press council Nepal please be updated with the your monitoring mechanism. The Law clearly states that a relationship VISA with a work permit can be allowed to work.

President of Nepal awards her daughter during the Republic day

President of Nepal Bidhya Devi Bhandari awarded both her daughters ceremonial awards during the republican day 29 May 2018. She has been hugely criticized for this move in social media and has been  compared with the long gone monarchy regime which distributed awards to their family members and people their favor .

President Bidya Devi Bhandari on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers on Saturday awarded 56,649 persons on the occasion of the ninth Republic Day.

According to a statement issued by the President’s Office today, 370 persons were awarded with Manapadabis, Alankars and Padaks of various degrees.

It is really sad how medals and honors are being distributed in the name of favoritism and nepotism. An award or honor is a respect to the moral values that stand live example for an extra human behavior working towards the benefits of the public. Distributing honors and awards in the name of recommendations seem to degrade the value of such awards and  create an attitude of disappointment. Long gone is the past practice where the public brought in federalism for change but the attitude of favoritism and nepotism still exist in the name of such tradition that has been passed on and prolong with the governance process.

Narendra Modi Coming roads are made in 24 hrs

It is really amazing how the Kathmandu city and its  decoration is going on in view of the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. To everyone's shock the Chabel Chuuchepati road which remained a nightmare for the local from last few decades was pitched within 6 hours by the road department. It was a un-imaginable things that has happened said a local. These roads were subjected to traffic and loads from past few years which was completely neglected. In view of modi staying at the Hyaat Regency the section of the Chabel Chucchepati has been pitched with in 6 hours in view of his comfort.

It is really a shame that how modi's visit turns the face of the road.what kind of management or government do we have that over looks public governance and focuses more towards other things.  isn't really sad that our department which are suppose to take care of all these things are not doing it though they are capable of doing it.

Fascinating things is this doesn't even happens when the prime minister or president of Nepal visit these place.

Looking at the trend i think we need to increase the official visit of modi to a more days so that more roads and development and can be done at grassroots level.

Qatar and Dubai Duty Free are the most expensive

I frequently travel outside my country for various conference and workshops. A couple  of times I have visited various duty-free shops around the world. Most of the times when I go outside my transit is either in Qatar or Dubai

But very frequently I have visited the Qatar duty free and  Dubai Duty free may be 6 to 8 times. One thing that I notice while purchasing good at such markets are the prices, in these so call shopping tax free shops, they have the most expensive good priced where in most cases its the most expensive price  anywhere else. It is exactly double the market value. I think it is not fair in so many context as a traveler may not know and selling the same goods even exceeding the MRP is not correct whether you have the prices tag or not.
It is something like taking advantage of traveler who has no idea and selling him or her off her money for the same goods that is readily available at a lower cost.

They are suppose to be duty free that means, they are suppose to be cheap in context of market price but in reality with all the twinkling and glitz the customer are robbed off their money.

I think in one way its  cheating the customer with the literal meaning and just creating a big fuss about the overall concept of DUTY FREE

When I was in Abu Dhabhi UAE,  I notice something that the prices of alcohol in UAE were way cheap at the local store. Though you need a licence to buy alcohol but it was way cheaper, I mean to say a Chivas cost around USD 20 where as the same would cost me USD 40 at the Duty free.

Even in Qatar where i had a transit the situation was the same, the prices are whooping high where there should have been relatively  less.

I was very spectical as this is duty free country where the government has declared tax free in major import sector and still the prices are so high.

Why should a traveler who is  willing to buy or create business should suffer ?

Free WIFI by KMC in Kathmandu

Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC ) has installed free wifi at public places which many of you might see it as a free service that one is getting. But from a cyber security perspective giving free wifi at public places without registration is the most insecure step towards making a system vulnerable from attacks and threats.  to be very precise, it makes the people connected more vulnerable and more prone to cyber attacks and other cyber crimes.

When you use a open and free network there is always a risk being attacked as there are no measure to secure your line. You never know who all are connected within the network and what kinds of software they have so being open in the open network is completely out of logic.

The best way to secure yourself when you are using a public wifi or open network is use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) that safeguards your details.
VPN extends a private network across a public network, and enables users to send and receive data across shared or public networks as if their computing devices were directly connected to the private network. Applications running across the VPN may therefore benefit from the functionality, security, and management of the private network.

I think before giving free wifi the KMC should considered the risk of cyber security and further work towards raising awareness of cyber security within their departments and then to the public.

It may look or sound as a simple step but it can have drastic results
