Nepal Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) malfunctioning questions user Rights

NTC Error message
In recent years, we have evolved from an autocratic regime to a more federal democratic environment where we have rights of everything. Today there are human rights, privacy rights, consumer rights etc.  to protect in everything we do and it has adapted in our lifestyle and technology that we use and live with.
Recently I encountered something that really surprised me, it’s a small error, but for a national public company like Nepal Telecommunication Corporation(NTC)  that pays billions in taxes to the government displaying a definite wrong message  was a question of curiosity as well as a stand to question. My issue was to question what are my rights in context of using the service and facilities related to the company and its product.
Technical details: When you press *400# to display your current balance and if you try to make a call the software displays a message, “Sorry you have no right to call.”
How convenient or right is that when you are the rightful owner of the number and the mobile set and your legal status is being questioned.
A small thought, but I think it’s a major issue in regards to the question that comes up when we receive advertisements from NTC about events or promotional campaigns do we have the privacy rights to say no.
I may or may not be right, but what concerns me is the level of recognition of user's rights and   that these organization practices in retrospect of showcasing their responsibilities towards clients and their services.

DO I HAVE ANY RIGHTS ....................

weed day celebrated in Nepal

shivaratri 2014

No matter with what security or number of police personnel deployed, it makes no sense for one day in the year when hashish or weed goes legal in Nepal. At the official level government of Nepal may not accept this, but on real ground weed goes legal especially at pashupatinath area with fumes gauging the surroundings in making the youth attract in millions. What young / old or cast /creed everybody enjoys the Shivaratri with a different mindset. Traditional and culturally Shivaratri is the only festival that has a certain psychological aspect of taking up marijuana or weed as a sacred blessing from the god.  This trend has not only been exploited, but to some extent exaggerated by drug abusers and teenagers in using illegal substances in the name of culture and tradition.

Is this acceptable is my question?

Shocking truth, but it is real that from the past few years the government has been trying to control the uses of the illegal drugs like marijuana; hashish etc. During Shivaratri but culturally it has given way to specific areas and locations.  On Shivaratri the Weed/marijuana is consumed as a blessing of lord shiva as it is considered one of the very prized substances devoted to lord shiva where at times the teenagers and youngster without knowing the cause.

It’s fun, but without knowing the pros and cons you can land yourself in unwanted situation which needs to be explained.

With the growing trend of teenagers flocking to pashupatinath temple certainly hints the wrong use and possibility of vulnerability.

Yes, it’s our culture, but make it visible and having the clarity of not misusing is also our right and responsibility.

It was estimated that around 10 million people visited the pashupati Nath temple this year.

Failed Leaders and their vision: subash nembang an example

Now I know why Nepal is listed in the group of least developed country. It is very ironical and very clear that we lack leadership and proper vision but how dumb can we be that we would nominate the same failed sorry ash who could not deliver his  goals during the last constituent Assembly and now again he is back in the same position.

Yes, I am talking about Mr Subash Nembang who was elected as the new  house of speaker  unanimously. how wise is it to give him such an important role that he could not deal with during his last tenure. In-fact I could not stop myself from laughing when I heard that Mr  Nemabang was the only candidate for the post. how courageous for him to stand again without the guilt that he didn't deliver last time so he was up for the nomination this time as well. I think this is the example of the worst political culture that we have and that is instigating Nepal's politics. I think with such lack of consen and guilt such people are no less than  burden for their position and responsibilities.
Nembang was highly criticized for not being able to perform during the last CA when he failed to call the last meeting prior the Baburam led government dissolved the CA.

Nepal's Politics desperately needs new face and new vision the orthodox are certainly containing the energy and drive of the nation towards poverty and corruption.

we need leaders who can take stand and make difference not leaders who can make politics more happening by having their own preferences and choices

Koirala a failed leader

With the appointment of Sushil Koirala as the 37th Prime Minister of Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, the country seems to be back in track of  new constitution making process. Famously idealized for his youth image and youth leadership, this 75 years old man depicts the real situation of Nepal's politics and its currently situation of orthodox mentality.

The November 19, 2013 election  was a breaking point for Nepal's political deadlock situation but still due to lack of political understanding and political culture, the country failed to get any result in regard to its political status and other essential decision. The elected CA members lacked to formed a proper leadership and visions in regards to management and operation for the last 3 months. Now after 3 months there seems to be some solution coming upfront but with lack of political manipulation and politics games running around for power and chair, it is still hard to expect  that there will be a secured government that will facilitate the CA to promulgate a new constitution.
The Communist Party of Nepal (United Marxist Leninist) which supported koirala to win the position of PM at CA has already expressed its dissatisfaction with Koirala reasoning it of failing to address the agreement of home minister portfolio to its party. Similarly, the political understanding seems to be lacking  political support in context of power sharing and portfolio management, which is expressed openly by leaders of the political parties at different media.

Koirala is the sixth head of government since the country became a republic in 2008, following a peace deal with Maoist rebels in 2006.

The Nepali Congress president, scored  405 of 553 votes of MPs', moving ahead securing his position as the next Prime minister of Nepal. During the November 19, 2013 election he was elected from Banke and Chitwan constituencies for the Constituent Assembly (CA).

I think sushil koirala is just an example of weak political culture of nepal that highlights the hypocrisy and orthodox mentality that rules Nepal politics.  It is hard to say if the country will get a new constitution within next five years but I can surely say it will get more ministers and sub ministers to manage different portfolios.

Money taken as Tourists fee should be used to increase benefits for tourist

The Nepal Government has doubled the tourism service fee for foreigners exiting Nepal via Tribhuvan International Airport enacting from March 1, 2014. The decision to revise the fee was taken by the executive committee of NTB. It was later approved by the Ministry of Finance.

The statement specifically highlights that the income generated from the fee will be used by #Nepal_Tourism_Board to promote Nepal in the international arena and for development of domestic tourism.

I think the money collected from the tourists should be invested in the airport and other facilities rather than the personal holiday trip of the NTB staff. When they go abroad we all know how the promotion takes place. One thing we all have to understand that Nepal lacks marketing tools for Nepal’s promotion. We have embassies in most parts of the world why aren’t we using that network. Working as a tourism journalist I have personally participated in many programs conducted by such embassies that save money and time and most importantly it helps the embassy to increase their credibility at a national level.

Apart from that we lack promotional quality materials like videos and photos which need to be worked on.

The NTB should hire few intellectual marketing consultants who can work on creating a buzz campaign rather than spending millions and billions of rupees in the so called foreign trip in the name of promotional expenses.
I am sorry to say this but taking Nrs 1000 from one tourist might not matter but when it comes to a year’s round figure that money amounts to 6 or 7 digit in a year and you are planning to use it for promotional activities what a joke....
The money taken from the tourists should be returned to them in the name of service, my question is why isn’t NTB ready to finance thamel as a Vehicle Regulated Zone or help Basantapur give better services. Why is it just ready to go for promotional activities aboard only?

Why is my question? Its high time when the leadership and the Nepal Government start thinking about the long terms solution for Nepal’s tourism and its pros and cons rather than wasting time and money in the name of promotional activities.

Nepal is getting popular as tourism destination whereas talking about the cost its increasing and when we talk about services and quality then its decreasing. Then what are the tourists getting out of it #Baba_jee_ka_Thullu
Use that money to improve the #Tribhuvan_International_Airport at least the tourists would get some benefit out of it ...............

last time I was there at the International Arrival section I was ashamed of the message displayed at the corridor and services available there. Leadership needs to check this

I know and understand the importance of foreign promotion but at this stage our tourism is just growing. It’s our choice to whether make the base strong or whether we want to make it more vulnerable and expensive.

Sworn for corruption and irregularities

With the appointment of Constituent Members Major political parties are planning to amend the existing Constituent Assembly regulation aiming at promulgating a new constitution within one year.

But my question is?
Is it possible or are they joking just like last time?

The last 2008 to 2012 Constituent Assembly was dissolved by the then PM Dr baburam Bhattrai in with the obstruction of the #Constitution_making_process. He dissolved the CA in view of lack of politically understanding and in view of the bad image of CA.

To understand the relativity of the problem, first we need to understand our position. I mean to say where the country stands. Right now we are in a transitional phase of corruption, nepotism, power play, political manipulation. The country is ruled by few buffed powerful politicians who have embraced few hooligans and they are governing their rule either by power or by money.  The #political_culture_of_Nepal lacks serious dedicated leadership and vision that can upload the country towards development and change. Political leaders in Nepal are obsessed with corruption, nepotism, favoritism, power politics and racialism where they are doing political in the name of their self-interest.

The real problem of the last Constituent Assembly that pushed it to dissolve its identity are given below:
1. Number of state
2. Criteria of federalist approach

These two were the major issues which hindered the political culture of Nepal.
Can these issues be solved is a million dollar question?

The solution is well prescribed in the interim constitution 2063 that governs the current legal status but by passing the solution the then PM Baburam Bhattrai dissolved the CA in view of showing his lack of leadership.

It has been clearly mentioned in the Interim constitution 2063 that if there is a case of lack of understanding or if there is a situation of lack of interest from related stakeholders the CA can opt for Public memorandum which can be adopted upon anytime upon the agreement of CA members.

I think we do not need a solution but we need to find the problem as Nepal searches new grounds of change and leadership but the orthodox political culture and leadership fails to quit and prolong to create political chaos and anarchy.

Modern day slavery in Nepal

Nepal has successfully established itself as the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal but when it comes to practice, Nepal still lack modern values of Humanity.  Reality is still today in remote villages there are people and tradition that practices what is said to be beyond laws and social norms. The terms #Kamlari or #Kamaiya might sound different to you but for people living in the Western and Southern part it’s a nightmare of hard labor and endless beating especially in the Tharu community and Dalits.

Let me first explain what these terms mean #kamaiyas mean people bonded laborers who agree to work upon a certain amount of money for a certain time frame.

Kamlari is yet another form of #modern_Day_slavery where young girls and women are sold by their parents into indentured servitude under contract for periods of one year with richer, higher-caste buyers, generally from outside their villages.

With the end of December the community of Tharu rise up to celebrates the Maghi festival, marking the end of winter, with this celebration, the destitute Tharu families whose financial condition are not good sign into contracts with people who want laborers. Unfortunately most of these laborer are below 18 and most of them go through hard labor where as others whose luck run out are picked up by agents who sell them off for #flesh trade .

These laborers are left behind with no right and no voice where they wounds inflict blood stains of being verbally abused to hard labor to sexual harassment and exploitation.

These days a-lot of Kamaiyas and Kamlaris have gained power both politically and socially but they fail to address these real problems where still today women, men and girls are sold and they  go through this burning hell. I think only few of the handful people have got the benefit of the #Kamlari_Movement and have had the opportunity to woek  in INGOs and NGOs due to their disadvantage where for the rest the ground reality is pain hard work, labor and exploitation.

Nepal lacks small changes but how, where and when are the things that we fail to realize.

Social Media and its hard reality

You might be amazed how people are getting more addicted towards using social media and integrating their personnel life. Reality is people are using it for updating every little thing that is happening in their life. From facebook to twitter to linkedin to instagram to pin interest, people are simply getting use to the ways of social media on their lives. So don’t be amazed when you get to hear people got divorce over an issue online or someone got fired over a simple personal update over a company. Yes it has happened and it’s happening all over the world. People are so use to social media that they often express, show their personal feeling and are dam loyal about updating their true feelings and sentiments.  On one hand they are being vulnerable whereas on the other they cannot help it as they as cluster phobic to hiding their feelings.

This has certainly made social media a crisis situation where a normal person should know its limitation and use.

To make it more personal and effective one should follow these points
1.       Stop using professional social media during your professional time
2.       Start using privacy setting
3.       Control your  web visibility and control you vulnerability
4.       Stay safe by optimizing your personal information

Social media can certainly help but it can also invite or put you in an awkward situation which needs to be understood .

National Unity Day forgotten

Today it's "Prithivi Narayan Shah birthday" which was previously celebrated a as National Unity Day but after the recent democratic movement this day has been removed from its glory and fame.
For Nepalese and Nepal, King Prithivi Narayana Shaha is not just a name, he is the king of kings who aspired Nepal and made the unification process possible. It was his glories vision and idea to see Nepal as unified and strong. Prior to that Nepal had no identity, it was scattered in many states and countries.

It was his idea and vision that today we have a country that has been balancing its identity among great giants like India and china . If his leadership and vision were futile and weak we would not have this nation.

He was born  246 years ago in 1768AD in Gorkha as a King who saw the pain of being small and scattered. so through out his life he lived his dream of a unified Nepal and his sons and family member fulfilled his dream.  Today when Nepal stands as a Nation its his contribution and his dream that we are proud of. We cannot deny his contribution.

The 2063/64 Constitution had scrapped this day as being of any relevance highlighting its weak mentality of weak #political_culture_of_Nepal. Act of disgrace was not stopped, in-fact his status all over Nepal were destroyed  saying he belonged to the group of dictatorship and ruling regime.

I think it is unfair for him(PNS) when our country recognizes so many martyrs who lost their lives  during the struggle to reinstating Democratic values but we fails to recognize that one voice that lead the movement of standing and making a Nation. His  leadership might be objected to  questions but his vision cannot and in no terms is questionable. If the #political_leaders_of_Nepal think that way then they are racist and they are discriminating. They played a dirty political game of  power politics just to impress few so called revolutionary forces which is completely WRONG . I stand by the words that I have written.

I strongly believe that PNS birthday is a day to remember him for his contribution and why we have Nepal. You rule our hearts and till the day Nepal will be there ur contribution will live on.....
His visions and legacy can be compared to nobody, no politician or Nepali can deny his contribution...
Salute to you Great king Prithivi

Nepal's politics in chaos after the Constituent Assembly 2070

#Political_culture_of_Nepal has gone insane, from the recent General Election of the Constituent Assembly 2070 till here things don't look to be normal, in fact the situation has worsened with in. People voted to get their elected member thinking they would do good for the country but now things are looking exactly the opposite. After election in most of the big political parties the problem of  power segregation and manipulation have evolved as a big question. Groupism and  power politics have infiltrated to nominate their  candidates for the Constituent Assembly. Serious dissatisfaction have been shown by party leaders and cadets in nomination of candidates for the Constituent Assembly. The UCPN cadets were seen torching their office furniture where as the NRPP were seen on the verge of dividing the party. Similarly in the Nepali congress as well dissatisfaction were heard from leaders for the nomination process.

The political leader are displaying a weak #political_culture that recognizes power and politics as the foremost tool. With this  manipulation and tussle the country is further moving towards path of uncertainty and chaos. With limited hopes the country seems to stall itself in the path of deadlock situation where the Constitution seems  to be a  big hurdle. Until and unless the political parties and leader adapt the #concept_of_nation_first, Nepal future seems doomed in corruption, power play, nepotism and criminal politics.

Politics for them is a like a business where they invest a certain amount of money for publicity during election and now when its over they are fighting like crazy to get to power to get back their money with interest.
What can we expect from political leaders who just want  position and power ........

Year 2013, a year to remember

Year 2013 was a year to REMEMBER, I stand by my failures and my mistakes.
There were times when I moved ahead in darkness, there were situation when I was standing alone and still I made it. I fought back with every situation and factor that challenged me. It was just the reality of fighting for change and what you stood for. 2013 made me realize things were possible for  what you believe and think about. The main thing is you need to be  focused and concentrated.

I made the most out of the 2013 but some where down below I feel sad for all the mistakes that I made, I know the coming year wont bring such opportunities but in my heart I know that I am ready to fight any situation and time.
Things that i have learnt in my past are the things that I have gain thought one more year has passed and I have grown old and smart but still it matter for the smiles and happiness that I search for.
I take credit for all the pain and suffering, I have grown few more grey hair on my head but still it was worth it and salute to all the efforts and opportunities

Hope 2014 will be as challenging and demanding ..................

Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stop violence against women

"समाजमा एकले गलती गरे त्यो दोशी हुन्छ, सयले गरे त्यो सामाजिक गलती हुन्छ। "

Nepalese society has been orthodox in its practice but primary cause of women exploitation is not just because of domination its due to lack of knowledge and education. If we look at the problem at surface level then its nothing, the government has already initiated free education policy in the country but still the literacy rates are down.Domestic violence and lack of understanding are the major obstacle that hinders women empowerment and leadership at grassroots level. Nepali society lacks the basic core rights of education, health and safety specially for girls. Nepal Government and the international and national Governmental agencies are busy in finding the donar but nobody cares about ground reality. Ground reality is when a girl is educated, a family become educated and then the society and community. It grows and multiplies. No matter how much we talk and make different measures but ultimately it comes down to these basic core factor that largely make a woman independent. An educated women is way more stronger and active than any other ordinary man.

Woman education is not just a need its a right of every child. we need to abolish the ideology of looking at woman with a different view.

The current practices of the society turning a blind eye to domestic violence is the main cause of  major women exploitation cases. In any case of domestic violence if is stopped at the point of generation then it can be easily solve d and the output can be fruitful. But when the society starts to ignore one case then it pounds up to become many where the tendency and psychology of the society evolves as a weakness. This tendency of the community or society to discriminate among people and generder creates

Nepal makes it in the list of most corrupted countries

Transparency International is back with its annual Corruption Perceptions Index-2013. Nepal ranks 116th, with 31 points on a scale of 0-100 with 0 denoting the most corrupt and 100 very clean. The report covers 177 countries across the world. Last year Nepal stood at 154th position with 27 points which this year has improved.  Nepal manage to score 31 points mainly due to efforts made in the sectors of good governance, appointments at various constitutional positions, verdicts in corruption cases and action initiated by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority against corruption.

Denmark and New Zealand are very clean countries with both scoring 91 points each while Afghanistan, North Korea and Somalia are listed as highly corrupt countries, each of them scoring eight.

HIV AID 2013 and its practices

HIV AIDS day December 1 as "Getting to zero: Zero new HIV infections. Zero discrimination. Zero AIDS-related deaths

Today its HIV AIDS DAY, every year thousands of people march and organize rally to spread the awareness about HIV AIDS and do related talk shows and other program but at the end of the Day HIV AID is challenging humanity  with high growing numbers and infection rates.

Specially in Nepal HIV AIDS is being looked as a topic that is very closely and nearly related to NGO's and INGO's. May be its because of its funding or the programs being done or may be its because of the number of NGO's and INGO's working in the sector?

But something that concerns me  is commercialization of the topic,  today there are more than five dozen organizations working for the cause. these organization directly involve in getting funds and working in small or large program . Though these organizations  work at their own level but at the end of the day only hand full of organizations come with effective programs and campaigns.

I personally consider HIV AIDS is a fight against humanity for which we all should unite, people dying anywhere in the world due to lack of resources and medicine services  is unfair and injustice  which needs to change.

Looking at global statistics of World Health Organization,  Nepal ranks the 56 position in the list of countries  found to have reduced the HIV infection sharply, the number of people getting HIV infected is not declining.

Still today  four to six persons are getting HIV infection daily in Nepal while the number of deaths caused by HIV/AIDS is 4800 in a year, according to a statics provided by the National AIDS and Venereal Disease Control Centre.

Around 262 people get HIV infection every hour across the globe. and 4,400 die due to the disease around the world which cannot be undermined.

This year the WHO has theme the HIV AIDS day December 1 as "Getting to zero: Zero new HIV infections. Zero discrimination. Zero AIDS-related deaths"

a note to the prime minister of Nepal

Respected Mr PM

How can you assure the security of Nepalese during the general election of constituent assembly 2013 .......

Bomb blasts are happening every day in different parts of the nation and you are saying there is security. You walk with a convey of security people,  read any newspaper and you will know about the real security situation of Nepal.

Even in the capital there were large number of security checks happening  till last week and from this week there are Limited security checks happening at night. So we can see and understand the level of security in the Capital.

We do understand the priority but giving assurance and standing by your decision are two different things. Hope you will stand by it.

I don't feel secure in capital, so I can imagine about other people. You asked people to vote but in regards to that the prices of transports, have made a check or arrangements for the public, NO. For your information the prices of transport have gone up and nobody cares.

Who's responsibility is that?

How can you assure people's safety ?
Can you make each and every Nepali feel secured a big NO.....

More blood in the name of Democracy is wrong

The Nepal Government is trying to go ahead with the general election in full swing with such situation is a question of discussion. From the security preparation to the management of resources though it is said to be under controlled but in one hand the government is fully prepared whereas on the other hand with the attacks, explosion and security issues things are really looking out of control.

The game of politics and manipulation is taking its toll where 10 days strike certainly puts a questions on operation and happening of the general election.

The question that have been raised is, is the government trying to play Democracy game at the stake of lives of thousand of Nepalese?

As today the first day of general strike against the  election, number of bombs were planted in different schools and public location. Most of them were prohibited but the question of public security is high in concern.

Similarly, with the election closing in, the number of attacks have increased tremendously putting public at high risk.

Do you want More blood in the name of democracy

The government saying,  they will give security but on real grounds we all know there is no security, who cares about the public. These killings would later be rectified in the name of POLITICS where the public have to suffer  and the public would have nothing to even complain  ...............................

A big slap for how dumb we  Nepalese are ..........

Political call for nomination and practise in Nepal

Today UCPN (Maoist) representatives came to my house with their political manifesto and  public campaign. It was very obvious for me as last year too the same candidate Hisila Yami had filed the nomination from the same place and she had won the election with huge number of votes.  When I saw them I asked them a question as we voted for her party last year, so before voting I wanted to know what was the result of her being in power last year?  My question was very genuine because I wanted to know what they had done and what they were planning to do.

Answer: They replied we brought tankers for water distribution....

The campaigners were talking and highlighting what they had done at local level?

But my question still remained unanswered
What have you people done for the community and society last year thinking upon which i can reconsider my vote.

Answer was nothing just some blabber answer that were irrelevant.

I was amazed the way the campaigners treated the public, as if they thought we were not educated and we didn't care about the country.

Hello I am a young generation youth and I beleive in action and hard core changes that would help my society to overcome the gaps between haves and haves not.

But the campaigners were silent, they wanted to know what our problems were and they were looking for instant solution to our limited problems. If thats the case then who would think about the long terms changes and problems. if political leaders are limited within the local problem then who would find solution and give visions  and leadership. I was surprised by the way our political parties lacked political vision and stability. We definitely need a political culture that understands and gives vision to the energy and development.

Our country needs few attention subjects like:
1. Taxpayer recognition
2. Transparency in Tax system
3. Effective political culture
4. Strict rules and regulation against corruption

Proposed ideology on Federalism practise
1. UCPM(Maoist): 11 federal state based on ethnical identity and delineation of special autonomous regions, autonomous regions and protected areas based on the dominant presence of specific communities in certain areas
2. Nepali Congress: Option for 7 or 13 depending on discussion
3. UML: Seeks 7 states although open for discussion with all option open
4. RPP: 7 states, 2 in Terai-Madhes and 5 in mountainous region

Power management and Governance
1.
UCPM(Maoist): Executive President directly elected and Prime Minister chosen by the parliament to run day to day government
2. Nepali Congress: Powerful President and executive Prime Minister elected from Parliament
3. UML: Ceremonial President and Executive Prime Minister
4. RPP: Ceremonial President and Executive Prime Minister
5. RPP Nepal: Ceremonial King and Directly elected Executive Prime Minister.

On Legislative Power:
1. UCPN (Maoist): Bicameral at center, Lower house based on population and equal representative from each provinces in the Upper house
2. Nepali Congress: Parliamentary System
3. UML: Parliamentary System
4. RPP: Parliamentary System

prabal gurunrg hyped too much

I am so surprised that Mr fashion Designer Prabal Gurung who just turned American one month ago is hyped so much. His achievements are really high when we talk about years but hello he has promoted himself not the nation in any ways. Come on People has he not done anything for the country or has he named his labeled "MADE IN NEPAL" to be so proud and prized about. We Nepalese just search for reason to make people go on top without looking at their pros and cons.

WHAT ARE WE ALL PRAISING HIM FOR ?

Give me some break

8th Internet Governance Forum (IGF), bali Indonesia

The 8th Internet Governance Forum (IGF)  held in Bali, Indonesia, from 22 to 25 October 2013 and focused on “Building bridges – Enhancing multi-stakeholder cooperation for growth and sustainable development”. The IGF was a eye opener for me to see how the world of ICT  worked. I believed it was something that was more prescribed where some hesitated to speak and some promulgated their ideology upon others, but I strongly felt there must be more involvement in terms of global practices and work modality over the world.

Likewise, getting a glimpse of the event,  there were around  1,500 participants from 111 countries, including Ministers, members of Parliaments and senior officials. The ambitious objective of the Bali meeting was to build bridges and strengthen the cooperation between and among various stakeholders, allowing and strengthening a constructive multistakeholder dialogue.

Different organization like ICAAN, APNIC,  ISOC, ITU etc were seen active in raising their part of the issues where big shot people in the IT industry ruled in their presence.
Similarly different issue of FOE, digital divide, standardization, security issue, e-learning, cyber crime were discussed  and highlighted among different session and expert.  Moreover, the voices of the developed and practised rule in while limiting the voice of the developing in understanding the real situation of what is happening and what can be done to make it right.

IGF2013 practices a weak model of multistakeholdership where collaborative solution's searched but only prescribed solution were given.  The forum highlighted limited  so called experts of few organizations who tried to give solutions and predictions from their point of view. Come on multistalkholdership is about cooperation for discussion not for observed solution.

Specially looking at the gaps of charter, rights and convention, there is a big gap of what is there and what is adopted by the individual countries according to their laws and regulations. The discrimination among  countries has resulted in the issue of standardization and net neutrality which needs more cooperation not policy lobbying.

Discussing global scenario of protecting journalists, bloggers, and media actors is not a question of reality. The discussion should have been more focused on what has been practiced and how can we overcome the gap in  giving the people their rights. Standardization in policy is a big hindrance for all and multistalkholder forum like these where overcoming such problem  is yet another issue.

Apart from that  the developed nation like US fighting on pity issue of blaming the China for infiltrating their cyber space and attacking was a real terms of hypocrisy which did not limited their action of cyber surveillance and espionage all over the world.  Perhaps the Chinese delegation fighting back to US pointing their incompetence of not being able to handle the situation of espionage over the www was a reality check.

Internet is a global platform that marks the achievement of human history that related to each and every individual that is associated with it. Discriminating and making it aloof is not a condition of today, it needs to be neutral in terms of its use, rights and impact.....

Kantipur Publication Neglects the road infront

Kantipur Publication, Subidhanagar  is one of apex journalism organization of Nepal. It practices storytelling
and bringing the truth through different form of paper, radio and Television channel. It writes about the pro and cons of society but from years, every time it rains the road in-front of them becomes slippery and hundreds of people  have slipped in-front.

Recently the road was dug up during the road expansion campaign and has further worsen the scenario putting a question in the late working modality of the road department.

Do they care I don't think so?  Nobody cares, the publication seems to highlight and voice issues of concern where as it refuses to see the road in-front is degrading and needs serious attention. what can we expect from a pristine organization like such. Is it my mistake to expect such a minor thing from the Kantipur Publication?

Wiki defines Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as  corporate conscience, corporate citizenship, social performance, or sustainable responsible business/ Responsible Business. It  is a form of corporate self-regulation integrated into a business model.

Today I became a Victim and slipped. I don't know whom to blame the government that fails to realize public safety to which I bloody pay my hard earned money as tax  for public welfare  or the publication that stands tall in bringing the truth of the society but neglects the road in front.

What kind of society are we moving to ....................................

Rayznews writes, " If Kantipur publication being the apex news agency cannot voice a minor issue like this then its hard to imagine how it can voice the  truth to the public,"

Election in Nepal, a Remedy or an issue

Election in Nepal has been opted as a  solution for the overall political chaos where there could have been better solution. From the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly on May 28 2012, Nepal has been facing political crisis in various forms of its operation, management and leadership.  Nepal's political scenario has never faced such a situation of leadership and diplomacy that encounters no barriers. The Baburam led government dissolved the Constituent Assembly (CA) due to its failure in drafting a new constitution, the CA was dissolved  after its original and extended total tenure of 4 years which according to morale values was acceptable but without any solution and putting the nation in such a transitional phase is was un-acceptable.  With political tussle and power play games the political parties of Nepal could not come to a conscious ideology.

Apart from that due to lack of political culture the nation faced a situation of uncertainty and deadlock which grounded the overall Nation's position.

Still then the political parties were seen at their turf where no fixed version regarding the election could be made.  There was no policy for diplomacy where the 4 party alliance declared the need and founded the controversial interim government led by chief justice Khil Raj Regmi  to end the political deadlock. The Khil Raj Regmi Government which was formed  with allegation and controversies where the  Baidhaya led Maiost party (Nepal Communist Party) expressed their dissatisfaction.  Khil Raj Regmi government has been doing its best to conduct the election.  The Nepalese Constituent Assembly election dates were postponed several times where the political parties exhibited their self interest of  weak governance and power politics.

The four party alliance have forwarded the current election option as a final remedy for the current political crisis situation but on the other side with such volatile situation things aren't looking easy.

Why shouldn't the Nepali Jantas Vote ?
1. The election preparation is not enough, the Id's are not ready,
2. One of the candidate who was shot, died ,
3. The Baidhaya group is still saying they will retaliate with force where around 33 parties are in support
4. The political parties have come up with candidacy but they are not prepared for election
5. More than 80 % of the candidates who were responsible for dissolving the previous Constituent Assembly are up for Candidacy

Why are we having election?
1. Four Party wants this election
2. Indian government is in support of election

Then why this election, it is just  waste of time, money and resource

General election In Nepal 2013

Election indeed is a question of national interest for all but the syndicate of the four parties that  is driving the national interest is wrong and should be challenged. In any democratic system election means the voice of public, their aspiration and hopes are related with the formation of new government and political parties which cannot have a limitation or criteria but here in Nepal things are completely different. The four so called big parties are in the midst of conducting election despite the dis-interest shown by other political parties. They are pushing the line and putting everything in line to hold the general election 2013.

Getting back to the opposition the Baidya party Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-M) and the 33 other parties have been opposing the election with valid reasons:

1. The election government is lead by Khil Raj Regmi who is the chief justice of Nepal and according to the Constitution  of Nepal no one can obtain two official government position in any condition. Currently he has withheld the position of Chief Justice till the time of election and he would rejoin his post, which practically might sound okay but technically it is wrong. The opposition wants him to resign from the post of the chief justice in midst of maintaining rule of law which is valid.
2. They want the election dates to be shifted back by  4 months from the current date saying they need preparation time which is also valid

In both the case I believe the Baidya  party and the 33 parties have the equal right to protest against the happening. The Baidya Party has publicly announced that they would retaliate the general election with force and action. They have made it public that if their demands are bypassed then they would kidnap the party election leaders during the course of polls.

It is very obvious that with such chaos election in coming Mangshir is not agreed upon by all.  The Baidya party Plus 33 parties want to extend the election for 4 months, I don't see any harm. Apart from that this election will just turn out to be nothing than a mockery of the democratic system of Nepal, if effective measures are not taken. How can it be democratic if only limited parties attended the polls?

My question to all is how could this election be successful when more than 33 parties are out of league? Does the Nepali government have enough money to hold re-election? It is just the pressure of the Indian counterpart that wants to establish their rule here in Nepal as we all know the Indian election are approaching in India and there are chances that BJP Narendra Modi is in the line of  next Prime Minister’s position of India so the Congress party of India wants to establish their elected and supported government here in Nepal as they know if BJP party of India wins the election then there are huge chances that Monarchy might return here in Nepal..
I think election is the right of Nepali people so the people of Nepal should be given the right to choose their representation or not for any political manipulation or political game  .............

Festival of the Masked dancers

Masked dancer at indra jatra

Surprisingly amazing and full of amazing stories Indra Jatra is a festival that comes alive during its practice. From the living goddess Kumari to the chariot of Kumari, Ganesha and Bhairav people are busy in pulling and witness the one glimpse of the living goddesses. It is only during this festival that the living goddess Kumari comes out in public. People flock in thousands to pull the ton worth chariot with full force, with high tension and action, some get bruised some are fatally injured but the action keeps moving with the fulfilling the tradition.  . During the festival's many interesting dances, including the Procession of Living Goddess-Mahakali, Mahalaxmi and Dasha Avatara masked dances are staged at the Durbar square .

The chariot will be pulled along Basantapur, Ittkha, Naradevi, Tengal, Baangemuda, Ason, Indrachowk and back to Basantapur. The procession on the second day of chariot pulling is followed by a two-day break. After that, on the eighth day of the festival, the chariot is taken to Mahankal from Basantapur and back to Hanumandhoka for concluding rituals.

The entire Basantapur and surrounding areas is covered by thousands of devotees who come to witness the procession. Nepal Police have been deployed over 1,000 security personnel to avoid any untoward incident during celebrations.

According to legends it is believed that  lord Indra’s mother Dakini was in need of a flower of ‘parijat’ to cure her ailments. Indra was plucking the flowers at Maruhiti, a sunken water spout at Maru, the people caught and bound him like a common thief. He was then put on display in the town square of Maru in Kathmandu. When the city folk realized they had captured Indra himself, they were appalled and immediately released him. Out of appreciation for his release, his mother(Dakini) promised to provide enough dew throughout the winter to ensure a rich crop. It is said that Kathmandu starts to experience foggy mornings from this festival onwards because of this boon.

Global challenges for Developing Nations

Global challenge is a complex scenario that echoes the deficiencies of our society and its development practices. These deficiencies are results of our psychological, social and economical, cultural, political, and legal practices which create differences among the societies and individuals.

In normal words the global challenges are categorize in following types:
1.       Poverty
2.       Training and Education
3.       Lack of proper infrastructures
4.       Lack of proper rules and regulation
5.        Attitude and perception
6.       Technological differences

Highlighting that global challenge differs according to place and people with the availability of resources and facilities. It may sound as an understatement but reality always bites. Especially in the third world developing scenario, the relativity of lack of standardization and outrage of malpractices makes it more complex and complicated regarding global challenges and how things are done. Everything needs to be done single handily or make it work where corruption, networking, favoritism, political manipulation etc work as a tool in getting things done. More or less I think it’s human nature to makes things work and the only thing that differs in people and societies is just the way the people think and that’s the major challenge.

I believe the most important global challenge is the psychological aspect that is related to human perception or thinking, it is one of the greatest challenges to overcome change and development. As human race from their origin have been very adaptive but at the same time their behavioral attribute of adaptation has resulted in thinking more about the safe side and trying to avoid risk at minimum. This attitude has not only developed into a psychological barrier but has transformed into an essential part of their cognitive process. They generally resist change and new things so whenever there is an idea of change they resist that effort. To bring change first one has to be very clear about the idea. It is said that the world can be changed with just one idea or spark. When that spark ignites it has to be flourished with proper visions and efforts then only it spreads and one after the other it spreads and takes the form of social transformation. So the social aspect needs to be very clear and worked on. It needs to be well groomed and understood regarding its use and implication, has to be prioritized at the top most level.

For e.g. when Galileo , opposed the idea of the earth being flat he had to face pubic disgrace and people even called him insane, he didn’t back out he further did his research and proved the reality and later he was recognized for vision.

Nepal being an under developed country faces economic, traditional and geographical challenges. Its economy suffers from poverty, political manipulation, unemployment, illiteracy etc.  More or less development seeks proper infrastructure and capable human resource to drive the energy which certainly is lacking in Nepal. The aspect of its strategic location facilitates its feasibility in utilizing its location but with the unhealthy political practices and the lack of visionary leaders, Nepal lacks in creating better core policies in facilitating development activities and if present further lacks implementation. Similarly, in such scenario, an entrepreneur has to play multi-dimensional roles. He has to work as a promoter, investor and the manager in the process of his business development. The aspect of his struggle ranges from one end to another from social to moral to psychological to physical. It may seem easy looking at it from the other side but in this part of the world to start a business is like to start a new life where he has to start from zero making his own way.

Basically, he encounters problems likes:

Ø  Limited access to capital
Ø  Corruption and bureaucracy
Ø  Low level of confidence
Ø  Low return from industry investment
Ø  Lack of education and training
Ø  Political instability
Ø  Lack of effective policy

When an entrepreneur thinks about starting something, it just comes out from one idea leading with his confidence and believes where he brings together the requisites like men, materials, machines, money and managerial ability. Then he further processes the requisites with other needed application; his motivation relies in the aspect of various infrastructures, governed by the different administrators leveling it from the organizational opening process to the adaptation of his idea in the market. In such scenario the absence of expertise or other resource may create hindrance in the over all process but the major role is played by the government where it not only acts as a facilitator and smooths the business development process.

Basically, when we looking at this part of the world, where there is poverty, unemployment, illiteracy problem, lack of infrastructure etc the perspective about the global challenge differs accordingly. It may sound different but yes it’s true the idea of global challenge depends and differs according to countries to different factors of economy, political status, core policies etc. I think it cannot be generalized as in most of the countries where they have funds they lack expertise, and in others where they have expertise they lack proper policies, in some they even lack infrastructure and effective sector  so there are tones of issues regarding global challenge but only one tool to overcome them all. It’s the power of believing in your-self and changing the world. You just need to believe in an idea and put the better efforts and then things do change.  People say wining is the only side of the game but I say and believe loosing is yet another part which is more valuable than winning where you learn by your experience, where you get the desire to stand up once again to prove yourself and relentless do the effort in creating a substance for your identity and to bring change.
One thing that I have learnt from my experience is there fear in change and development but beyond that there is success which needs to realized and thought of and until and unless we reach out with proper efforts nothing will happen. So it better to try and move forward and make mistakes and gain knowledge rather than to stay behind and feel lacked.

A mind of a Terrorist

Terrorists and suicide bombers are also humans but what makes them so brutal that pushes them towards killing hundreds that too without guilt is a question of amazement.
Even hurting yourself it pains but hurting someone else is a matter that lights the self conscious mind that neglects the moral values and human existence. These people are beyond the thinking of possibilities as anything is possible for them.

I call these people abnormal brain function who on their cost don’t feel liable to others. For a normal mind the pros and cons of any action is calculated which direct in the modality of action, but for a abnormal mind that functions with high testosterone and adrenaline it’s a matter of what can be done rather than what can be saved.

The  major core values like learning, pain, action storage and thinking are place in different segment of minds. Out of all these process it works under basic fundamental values of ethics and morals. For any human to hurt another person it has to be overwritten manually to discharge the possible thinking for action of destruction of others.     Just like every equal action has an alternative reaction the brains also function with a basic function of alternative theory.

Holonomic brain theory says the cognitive function as being guided by a matrix of neurological wave interference patterns situated temporally between holographic Gestalt perception and discrete, effective, quantum vectors derived from reward anticipation potentials.
Anything that exceeds normal human brain is abnormal function that search and values action in terms of time and situation. For any action to be diverted towards a wrong action it takes huge need of will, motivation and inspiration. These three action in combination result in anything that is possible to overshadowing the motive of cognitive process and values.

Criminologists in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries turned to phrenology, criminal anthropology, evolutionary theory, intelligence tests, and analyses of body types to understand crime in a manner that reified the differences between criminals and non-criminals. Adopting a "medical model" of crime, they focused on the physical traits that they believed distinguished criminals and largely ignored the circumstances in which criminals lived. Most early biocriminologists tried to reduce "the complexities of criminal behavior to a single biological factor," such as the size of the frontal lobes of the brain, the shape of the skull, or the capacity to learn (243). Most of them were also convinced that biology was destiny. They believed that interactions between biology and the environment played little, if any, role in shaping the behavior of criminals. Given their assumptions, it is not surprising that many biocriminologists embraced eugenics, since they believed that criminals represented a lower, atavistic state of human evolution. Nor is it surprising that behavioral scientists lost interest in biological explanations of crime once they had witnessed the atrocities committed by the Nazis and other eugenicists in the name of biocriminology.”

Volunteering abroad for a cause

Travelling is always fun but travelling with a vision and mission is something that is not common. Looking at the arrivals rate in Nepal, Nepal has established itself as one of the top ten holiday destination, most of the people who come here search for various aspects of luxury, entertainment, and adventure but there is a handful number of people who come to Nepal in search of helping people.
The trend has grown so much that volunteering in Nepal has established itself as one of the most potential business where local NGO’s harvest a cash crop.

But right now we are talking about real change and real people who make that effort to bring real change.  Likesuch, Peter Jensen first went to Pakistan in 2005 as part of a team from Denmark to help after the big earthquake there.  There he helped and learned new techniques in building using materials from the local area to build with keeping costs down and efficiency high.  They built homes and taught locals how to do it t the same time.  Since then over 8000 structures have been built in Pakistan using these methods.

Peter came here to Nepal a few years ago and was treated so wonderfully by the people there that he fell in love with your beautiful country (as I did.)  He decided to share his knowledge and skills and built a school somewhere up north.  He is also building test buildings to show his methods work and are sound.  They can withstand over 9 on the Richter scale.  When the government of Denmark sees the results that Peter gets they will give him money to build more schools in Nepal.  Peter has sold his apartment in Denmark and has spent all his personal money on this project and needs the help and support of all who can give it so he can finish those test buildings.

Currently he is helping the people through  his website http://www.motherearthbuildings.com/

Democracy in Nepal lack adequate political culture that respects voters not tax payers

Democracy in Nepal

Democracy the true meaning defines, the freedom of the people where the government is ruled by people's choices and sentiments.  But here in Nepal the meaning of democracy has bee redefine and reconstituted. In abide making the system prolong and work the political parties of Nepal have been manipulating the system and public according to their need. From the absolute Monarchy system to the monarchy in constitution to the current republican Nepal has gone through various phase of practicing different regime and perception.

This testing of ideologies  has not only  made the country weak but on the other side the country is in a transitional phase of evolution its identity. The process has hindered the development and living standard but on its counter side the disease of corruption, power manipulation and nepotism has  engulfed the country in a  long history  and shadow of poverty and irregularities.

The main problem that lacks in Nepal is the  political culture where political parties and leaders have failed to realize the concept of Nation First. For them their parties and self motives are their fist priority where the aspiration of the people have no existence.

The mentality of putting the leaders above the law and no existence of action in reaction to their unjustifiable irrational acts has put a huge question mark in the Political culture of Nepal.

"We need a system that treats a tax payer with respect, we don't need democracy that respect voters "

In Nepal Democarcy Defines loottantra for politicians.............

They have every right to do bandhas, Gundagardi, Politics in education system, corruption, Nepotism, Favoritism etc

Buddha was born in Nepal

The great savior of Humanity Gautama Buddha was born in Kapailvastu Lumbini which is currently in Nepal, this information has been  mislead by the Indian government to prove he was an Indian prince. But on ground reality Nepal was never part of the greater India nor Gautam Buddha was a Indian prince. The Indian scholars and historians have imprinted the fact of Buddha being born in India with high notion in text books and other historical artifacts which has arguably made an impression upon the India citizen as well as the western world.  The issue has prolonged so much that even a duplicated kapilvastu was created to give the impression of Buddhas birth place in Utter Pradesh and in 2009 the Indian state Government celebrated the Kapilvastu festival to promote the fact.  Reality is Buddha was born in Nepal and he obtained his enlightenment and processed his learning in India which has been scientifically proven by UNESCO world heritage. Apart from that the famous ASOK Pillar also states that King Asok came in search of the place of birth of Gautam budhha and Erected the pillar in Nepal.

To some scholars ideology they apprehend the fact that when buddha was born there was no territory, there were small nations and countries which fought for their survival. And reality can be adjusted within the periphery but time and again India claiming Buddha born in India certainly pressures the locals in Nepal.

"Buddha was born in Lumbini which is a proven fact, the Indian  government time and again have been trying to overshadow this, they have created kapilvastu in India , what more can we expect from India," said Prakash a student.

CRUX Though there has been propaganda and  controversies created and fired still we all believe BUDDHA was born for HUMANITY where he served his people and taught us the path of salvation. Buddha cannot be limited within anyone or territory but  the fight  in between India and Nepal about where Buddha was born has always brought high sentiments of anger and hatred. It is not just a issue or a topic but its a national interest for young people who believe Nepal has to rightfully fight for what is its and its territory.

One thing India has to stop is to play with sentiments of Nepalese and one thing Nepalese have to understand is Buddha is not their property.

Shambhu Thapa- its all legal for me

The Supreme Court has ordered the  Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) on Tuesday to returned the documents and other equipments, which were seized from senior advocate Shambhu Thapa’s law firm, to the Supreme Court (SC).

DRI officials returned the documents and other equipment's to the apex court as per the court Sunday’s order. The SC on Sunday had ordered the DRI not to proceed with the investigation into suspected tax evasion by the law firm of Thapa.

In this case the SC is getting biased and is getting influenced. We all know who Shumbhu Thapa is and why is being held.  If the SC believe that just by showing or under favoritism could rule in Shambu thapa than it’s, the worst practice ever. Shambhu has committed an error not by filing proper taxes, so he should be treated accordingly. The documents and property seized are the perfect example of how and what a normal citizen has to go through when they don’t file taxes properly then why have a certain level of biasness towards him.

Just because he is a top lawyer of Nepal does not gives him the right to escape taxes. Apart from that he is a professional so he should have been transparency and a level of legality with this organization which he fails to show.
We should all give a round of applaud for  the SC in its intervention of saving Shambhu Thapa’s fundamental right when thousand of Nepali face the same. Shambhu Thapa has  not submitted the financial reports and as per the DRI which he should have  done, so he facing the problem I think the DRI’s action is a milestone in setting and triggering all the big shot businessman and entrepreneurs who have been tax evading.

Who the freaking hell is he that he should be given the priority and why is the SC is being biased. The SC with such reaction is showing the way the supreme body works.

Even the president of Nepal intervening in this matter is a concern of all about how the network of favoritism work. Mr president please confirm your information and consult your counselor before having a public support or statement.
